Job Description

The Department of Life Sciences, in the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks applications from qualified candidates for a part-time non-tenure track position in biology, specializing in lower-division course work for biology majors and non-majors (e.g. general biology, general zoology, microbiology and genetics), or specialty courses in their area of expertise. The College seeks excellence in instruction.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Teach lower-division lecture courses for science majors

  • Teach lower-division lecture courses for non-science majors

  • Teach lower-division laboratory courses for science majors

  • Teach courses, both lecture and laboratory, in areas of their expertise

  • Create and maintain a safe environment for instruction and learning in a laboratory setting.

Required Qualifications:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in BIOL or a related field (ABDs will be considered for this position).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous college-level or AP Biology teaching experience.

  • Experience with a diverse student body

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong self-discipline and ability to work independently.

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.

  • Ability to interact with a diverse set of students and faculty.

This is a temporary, non-tenure-track, part-time position requiring teaching responsibilities. Applicants should submit the following documents for review:
