Position Information: Description

The mission of the College of Nursing & Professional Disciplines (CNPD) is to prepare future leaders, to advance human well-being and improve quality of life for diverse populations, with an emphasis on rural communities in North Dakota, the region and beyond, through the provision of high-quality innovative interprofessional education, research and service. The CNPD is comprised of three departments: Nursing, Nutrition & Dietetics, and Social Work.

The department of Social Work is seeking a full-time (9-month), tenure-track faculty member to carry out a robust research agenda, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and contribute to the mission of the department, college, university and profession through service activities. This individual will contribute to a productive and collegial academic team and develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with students. UND Social Work faculty teach in both our campus-based and online distance programs (BSSW and Advanced Generalist MSW). We offer the only MSW program in the state and are committed to providing educational access to non-traditional students, especially those interested in serving rural areas and Native American communities.

Duties & Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities will be in teaching, research and service/outreach. To ensure establishment of a robust research program, the successful candidate will teach the equivalent of a 12-credit courseload the first year and a 15-credit courseload in subsequent years.

The successful candidate will develop a nationally/internationally recognized research program aligned with UND's Grand Challenges and will engage in active efforts to pursue and secure external funding to build research infrastructure and will participate in professional and department/University outreach and service activities. Minimum Requirements
  • Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program and ability to be licensed in North Dakota
  • Doctoral degree in Social Work or a related field (ABD candidates may also be considered)
  • Evidence of relevant scholarly productivity in an area congruent with the department and UND's Grand Challenges
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Social Work
  • Two years of post-MSW Social Work practice experience
  • Practice or research experience with American Indian and/or rural communities
  • Teaching experience
Work Schedule/Start Date

Work schedule will depend on courses taught. Start date is tentatively January 1, 2022.
