Your opportunity:

The Intercultural Skills Lab (ISL) promotes the development of intercultural competence to create teams that are engaged, inclusive and transformative. Our signature program, Business Edge, has supported the critical skills development and career advancement of Internationally educated professionals since 2009. Since then, our programs and services have grown to offer a blend of on -campus and digital learning in five key areas: communication, intercultural competency, leadership, sector-specific training, and career growth.

As the Learning Technology Coordinator, you will be responsible for actively supporting ISL’s goal of providing top tier professional development programs for internationally educated professionals, and its strategy of building a portfolio of customer-focused hybrid learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing components of both hybrid and digital instructional programs
  • Developing instructional design plans for use in teaching contexts involving educational technologies
  • Advising on best practices and strategies for effective course design; advising instructors on academic quality evaluation strategies
  • Determining the optimal presentation of video, audio and still images
  • Conducting detailed analysis and evaluation to inform program planning activities; evaluating learning outcomes for program development
  • Analyzing needs and recommending appropriate technologies for teaching/learning goals
  • Fostering stakeholder engagement and maintaining relationships with project partners
  • Disseminating program information and serving as a resource for participants to maximize their learning experience

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree comprising studies in learning technologies, instructional design, adult learning principles and curriculum development; or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum three (3) years experience designing, developing, implementing and evaluating technology-mediated courses/programs for adult learners, in an academic/continuing education, professional development and/or learning and development context
  • Experience in online and e-learning course design, development and delivery
  • Experience in or an understanding of pedagogy and technology of adult learning, mobile learning, gamified social and/or open learning programs
  • Experience in designing, implementing and supporting faculty in managing online webinars using platforms like Zoom, Blackboard Collaborate or Microsoft Teams
  • Proven work experience in building and supporting synchronous, asynchronous or blended learning courses using Blackboard, Canvas or other learning management systems and related software/communication platforms or other comparable learning
  • Practical experience in designing and delivering courses for adult learners
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Abode Creative Suite and Google Docs
  • Expert-level skills working directly with web-conferencing applications and e-learning authoring tools and e-learning authoring software such as Articulate Storyline or Abode Captivate
  • Ability to execute project plans and maintain production schedules, and provide input to the development and refinements of operational and administrative guidelines, procedures and policies to support process improvement
  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills are essential
  • Exceptional customer service with strong relationship management skills
  • Able to establish project milestones and effectively coordinate project plans and schedules
  • Must be able to work quickly in a fast-paced environment while under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to remain up-to-date on developments in digital learning
  • Ability to work well in an environment where new technology and learning technologies are regularly reviewed, evaluated and introduced
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends as required, to accommodate needs of learners


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience creating multiple instructional modalities
  • Certifications in E-Learning, TESL or CELTA
  • Experience in direct program delivery with internationally educated professionals
  • Experience in web development includingworking knowledge of HTML
  • Understanding of pedagogy and experience in designing programs that support cognitive, emotional and behavioural learning
