Organizational Unit Overview:

Housed within the College of Engineering and Technology, Technology Systems offers five undergraduate degrees, three masters’ degrees, four graduate professional certificates, and participates in a consortium-based PhD program. The department has 32 full-time faculty members and employs an average of 15 part time instructors each semester to serve approximately 1400 students.

Job Duties :

The College of Engineering and Technology seeks a 9-month tenure-track assistant or associate professor to teach, advise, conduct research and provide service in the Department of Technology Systems with a program focus in Design. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach courses in Architectural technology such as 1) Architectural Design and Drafting 2) Sustainable Design 3) Planning Techniques, 4) Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and 5) Autodesk Revit. The candidate is expected to engage industry, lead curriculum development, support accreditation activities, and strategically partner with community colleges on joint curriculum. The candidate is expected to conduct funded research in emerging areas of architectural design such as Building Information Model (BIM), Smart and Green buildings, and Immersive and augmented reality. The candidate will also be expected to actively participate in recruitment and retention efforts in the program and the department. Faculty members are expected to provide leadership in developing, teaching, and maintaining curriculum using both traditional and distance delivery methods. In addition to teaching, advising, and providing service, active involvement in outreach to industry is required. Development of externally funded research projects and peer reviewed publications are expected. Also, providing service to the university, community, and profession is expected. Contingent upon available funding.

Minimum Education/Experience :

A terminal degree in architecture or a closely related field in technology/engineering with a focus on architectural design from an appropriately accredited institution is required. ABD’s who hold master’s degrees in the field or related fields may be considered for initial employment. Rank will be commensurate with education and experience.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :


Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education :

Professional practice experience in architecture, teaching experience, and experience in obtaining external funding, and a record of scholarship is desirable.
