Summary of Duties:

The Digital Communications Manager will develop strategy and create content for digital communications in support of Washington State University’s (WSU) comprehensive campaign and the WSU Foundation’s social media and web presence.

Reporting to the Director of Campaign Communications, the Manager will provide data analysis, digital strategies, and content for online and/or social media communications across WSU Advancement. The Manager will have primary responsibility for developing and coordinating the social media strategy for the WSU Foundation as well as maintaining and developing tools to highlight and support philanthropic impact and stewardship efforts at WSU.

Occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary to support a digital presence at events.

Full-time or part-time remote/hybrid opportunity available.


Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field and three (3) years of professional level experience in marketing, promotional or related work. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience developing and implementing successful marketing and/or fundraising campaigns through a multi-channel approach.

  • Knowledge of the web, technology, social platforms, and video, as well as digital trends.

  • Understanding of digital fundraising technologies and best practices.

  • Experience with CRM tools.

  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and on a team, and respond well to guidance and direction.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Facebook advertising campaigns.

  • Experience with Google Analytics setup and reporting.

  • Familiarity with HTML and basic website maintenance.

  • Experience with or understanding of Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Adept at setting and measuring digital activity to manage progress toward goals; strong research and analytical skills to forecast and identify trends and challenges.

  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.

  • Ability to translate complex technical ideas easily.

Associate Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence Recently Announced

Dr. Lisa Guerrero was recently named associate vice provost for inclusive excellence. Guerrero has been an active advocate for diversity and inclusion since joining the WSU faculty in 2004. She is currently a professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies in WSU’s School of Languages, Cultures, and Race. She will maintain her faculty position, while serving as associate vice provost in a half-time appointment.

Dr. Guerrero will provide leadership to academic affairs in implementing WSU’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. She will help to identify and implement best practices and evidence-based approaches in faculty hiring, tenure and promotion, research support, faculty retention, teaching and mentoring, and curriculum planning. One of her first areas of responsibility will be to oversee the Racism and Social Inequality in the Americas faculty cluster hire program for Fall 2021.
