Paid responsibilities may include: prepare and teach private lessons, attendance at juries each semester, 1-2 department meetings per year, attendance at horn junior/senior recitals, recruitment, small ensemble coaching, and occasional performance duties. If available, there may be semesters where the adjunct professor will be asked to serve as a resident performing artist, playing with the Concordia orchestras once per week for an hourly wage (or to help find someone for this capacity).

QUALIFICATIONS: Masters degree or doctorate. Teaching experience at the college level is desired. The candidate must be active as a performer and encourage prospective students to apply for music scholarships at Concordia Irvine. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and be able to communicate effectively in English. In accordance Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and with the university's status as a church-operated institution, all adjunct faculty members must be practicing Christians, active at a Christian church.
