Job Description Summary

The incumbent works closely with and provides administrative support to the MBA Director, Department Chairs, Dean, Associate Dean, or Executive Coordinator to the Dean of the College of Business as assigned. The Senior Academic Coordinator must possess a superior standard of work, exercise discretion when handling confidential information, and pay close attention to detail.

Job Description

Duties and Tasks:

  • Answer phones and direct incoming calls or inquiries
  • Analyze student and faculty data and generate reports as needed
  • Respond to questions from students, faculty, and staff regarding business degree programs, requirements, policies, and procedures
  • Regularly exercise professionalism, discretion, and independent judgement to determine appropriate responses to represent the College of Business
  • Orient students to business programs through online and on campus orientation sessions
  • Coordinate and implement on campus events and activities such as Seminars, Colloquia, Orientation Sessions, and Intercessions for doctoral students
  • Assist the MBA Director, Department Chairs, and Associate Chairs with faculty clearances, budget reports, course schedules, and program evaluations
  • Review and make recommendations on academic sanctions for business students
  • Counsel students with sanctions on appropriate processes
  • Research and make recommendations for student requests such as provisional admissions, transfer of credits, reinstatement, etc.
  • Create faculty contract payroll each semester for overloads
  • Coordinate and track internships for international students
  • Hire and supervise student workers
  • Schedule all graduate business faculty
  • Schedule, build, and optimize campus and online classes
  • Identify opportunities for continuous process improvements and assist with implementation of processes
  • Work collaboratively with other departments at the University Campus and the Centers to enhance student recruitment, retention, and overall student satisfaction
  • Process and provide support for grade appeals, perc holds, and graduation applications
  • Provide administrative support in preparing meeting minutes, requisitions, employment postings, and expense reports
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Provides Administrative support and performs other duties as assigned by Directors, Chairs, Associate Dean, Dean, or Executive Coordinator to the Dean of the College of Business

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in business or closely related field
  • 2-3 years of working experience in higher education
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of statistical software tools for analyzing and presenting data
  • Knowledge of academic processes

Skills:

  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Datatel, and knowledge of internet resources
  • Excellent customer service skills

Abilities:

  • Ability to analyze data and generate reports using a variety of analytical tools
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
