The Becker School of Design and Technology at Clark University invites applications for a Teaching Professor of Interactive Media Generalist starting Fall 2022 at the level of assistant, associate, or full professor.
The Becker School of Design and Technology offers innovative undergraduate and graduate programs in Interactive Media with a multitude of concentration tracks such as Game Design, Game Programming, 2D Art, 3D Art, Game Audio, Game Narrative, as well as the ability for students to design their own with faculty mentorship which may include areas such as Serious Games, Game Culture & History, or AR/VR. Our professors are committed designers, developers, and teachers, and actively collaborate with faculty at Clark and institutions and organizations worldwide. Our students participate in original development and exploration of new technology for interactive media and place highly in creative media contests and hackathons. Our graduates have enrolled in distinguished academic institutions, are hired by leading interactive media or game-adjacent companies, or become entrepreneurs in the field.
A significant component of our cutting-edge curriculum is The Game Studio, a required, multi-year, multidisciplinary, credit bearing, development studio in which students, faculty, and community partners collaborate on titles from ideation to initial launch. The normal teaching load for a Teaching Professor of Interactive Media faculty member is 6 courses per academic year. Position responsibilities include developing and teaching courses at the undergraduate and possibly graduate level, and carries the expectation of advising/mentoring students, and actively engaging in multi-disciplinary collaborative projects among faculty, staff, and students.
Candidates are expected to have an M.F.A. or other terminal degree in interactive media, games, emergent media, digital arts, computer science, or related field. Candidates' portfolios should demonstrate expertise with industry tools for content creation including Unity and Unreal engines and reflect professional experience in one (or more) of the following fields: game development, XR development, serious games, AI for interactive media, simulation development, interactive/emergent media studies, interactive art & installation, or game audio.

As a Teaching Professor, a candidate should have a track record of effective, progressive, and inspiring teaching and/or mentoring. Ideally, the new faculty will demonstrate connections to the entertainment and game industries and/or the fine arts community.
