Wellness and Recreation Services has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Member Services & Marketing Coordinator position.

Jobs in this career family provide general business operations of the organization or a combination of operational responsibilities covering multiple career families.  Functions include institutional research, statistical analysis, policy development and review, strategic planning and broad unit business operations such as parking and transportation services, risk management, childcare services, real estate and property management, retail services or job responsibilities that combine fiscal, HR and operational management responsibilities.

Professionals at the intermediate level are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability, and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. 

At the intermediate level, duties may be more limited in scope and are performed with guidance and direction from other professionals.

Position Emphasis:
The Member Services & Marketing Coordinator will report to the Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications. The Member Services & Marketing Coordinator will provide oversight in the areas of member services operations and departmental membership marketing practices. This includes membership recruitment, sales, service, staff supervision, member communication oversight, and managing the customer management software (Fusion). This position is responsible for aiding the Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications in oversight of day-to-day member communication, promotional efforts, and management of student employees. This position will also be responsible for supporting departmental assessment efforts, creating monthly and annual departmental usage and retention reports, facilitating member communication, and on-campus relationship building. This position will interact regularly with students, staff, faculty, vendors, and Wellness & Recreation members.  

Examples of Work Performed

Member Services:

  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate the part-time student member services staff.
  • Work with the Assistant Director in forecasting the annual program budget.
  • Create strategies to retain and promote student, affiliate, and community memberships.
  • Maintain member database.
  • Responsible for researching, purchasing, inventory, and budgeting products for sale and check out at equipment desk.
  • Assist with the coordination of facility tours and presentations regarding departmental programs and services.
  • Manage and maintain credit card transactions, electronic funds transfer (EFT), payroll deduction and cash handling procedures in compliance with University Procurement.
  • Assist in daily operation and oversight of Fusion, the department’s enterprise membership software system.
  • Responsible for managing all services and sales including memberships, lockers, services, programs, guest fees, and retail sales. 
  • Assist with the management of e-communication efforts with current and prospective members including informative updates, responding to questions or concerns in the main department email, and providing individual membership updates.
  • Promote collaboration by establishing relationships with CU Denver, Auraria Campus, and community leaders.
  • Provide input for all customer service policies and participate in the development and implementation training conducted for customer service programs.
Marketing:

  • Utilize data to make informed decisions involving membership strategy and marketing.
  • Coordinate external membership marketing efforts. 
  • Create, organize, and facilitate the annual promotions plan for membership strategy.
  • Participate in the collection and analysis of various department assessment data to support facility, program, and service reviews, including dissemination of results and assisting Wellness & Recreation Services team with understanding and appropriately using them.
Other job duties:

  • Attend meetings, events, trainings and serve on committees related to department, division or university mission and goals.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Salary and Benefits:
The hiring range for this position has been established at $44,526 to $47,200.   

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, marketing, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, sports management, higher education, or a directly related field from an accredited institution. Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.
  • 1 year of professional level experience working with member/guest services and/or in a marketing role. 
Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in business, business administration, marketing, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, sports management, higher education, or a directly related field from an accredited institution
  • Experience working in marketing
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience with sales
