For this position, employees must have at least one of the following: Desired Qualifications::
1. Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university AND two years experience in the Interior Design field; OR
2. Associate degree from an accredited college or university AND six years experience in the Interior Design field; OR
3. Valid California Community College instructor credential appropriate to the subject per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990); OR
4. A combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent of items 1 or 2 above.

Preference will be given to those candidates demonstrating a high level of expertise on the basis of: Summary of Duties and Responsibilities::
· Master’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.· Minimum of three (3) years of professional work experience in Interior Design.
· Minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching courses in Interior Design at the post-secondary level. · NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) and /or California Interior Design Certification (CID) or equivalent.· Recent experience teaching Interior Design courses at the postsecondary level, including experience in non-traditional formats such as online, hybrid, fast-track, accelerated, etc.· Experience in developing lower-division curriculum on the college/university level.· Interior Design skills and knowledge to teach a wide variety of classes ranging from Interior Design Fundamentals to Advanced Studio course work including expertise with current industry-used software applications (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe CC, and rendering applications).· Knowledge of and an ability to integrate instructional technology in the classroom and to be able to use such technology to offer curriculum and student learning through diverse delivery modes, as appropriate.· Knowledge of sustainable and WELL practices as they apply to interior design.· Evidence of effective oral and writing communication skills.· Commitment to professional development through practice, continuing education, or active membership in Interior Design professional organizations.· Experience or ability in building community relationships, locating and supervising industry work experience for students, and maintaining effective communication with an advisory committee. · Ability to teach effectively by demonstrating a working knowledge of learning styles and teaching techniques to create equitable outcomes and success for all students. · Experience and/or knowledge in working with students of great diversity in socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background, including those with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.

Instruct and assist in the growth and success of a diverse population of students through careful preparation of course materials, effective teaching methodologies and informed critical feedback on assignments and discussions in support of student success.
Develop culturally relevant course content, culturally responsive pedagogical techniques, and effective practices for engaging students who are diverse and/or are students who are historically underserved. The ideal candidate should have experience with relevant pedagogical techniques to engage diverse student populations such as African American, Latinx, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders and other disproportionately impacted students.
Participate in curriculum development and serve on department, division, college and district committees as necessary to maintain and improve the instructional program; participate in appropriate professional development activities.
Engage in co-curricular activities, including planning, implementing, and teaching in special programs designed to support student success.
Participate in the formulation of Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) and the Student Learning Outcomes assessment cycle.
Maintain formal office hours; stay current on information as discussed in department and division meetings.
Provide an average of one (1) hour per week of college service that supports the division, college and/or District goals through active participation in one or more of the following categories: committee work on the department, division/school, college, and/or district level; non-classroom college, district, or community activities; department/division/school activities, events, or meetings; student club advisor activities or events.
Remain current in your discipline, of instructional methods and new technologies pertinent to areas of assignment; learn and apply emerging technologies and advances (e.g., computer software applications) as necessary to assist and support student success.
Teach scheduled classes and perform related duties as assigned, including comply with the applicable Course Outline of Record(s) (COR); respond to and evaluate student work regularly and consistently, inform students on a timely basis of their progress in the course throughout the term; and respond to student academic concerns, as appropriate, in a timely manner. Comply with district, college and division policies in the performance of duties.
