Job Summary

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated university divisional/business units. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the university. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the divisional unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as business partner with hiring managers to develop effective relationships within the organization and the campus community that results in client satisfaction.
  • Conduct/Participate in meetings with respective divisional business units.
  • Consult with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR department to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Partner with Employee Relations Manager to resolve complex employee relations issues. Gather and refer detailed information to ensure objective investigations.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Collaborate with Compliance Business Partner relative to providing day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g, coaching, counseling, career development).
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale,and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Participate in divisional strategic planning to provide guidance to managers relative to department restructure/reorganization and workforce planning.
  • Develop contract terms for new hires, promotions, transfers, salary adjustments and internal review.
  • Identify training needs for divisional units and individual coaching needs. Participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follow up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Conduct presentation(s) and facilitate HR-related training (i.e., Search Committee).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in human resources or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years broad experience in human resources. Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including talent acquisition and compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Master's Degree in human resources, business administration or related field.
  • Experience: Experience with Peoplesoft HCM system(s).
  • Certification: Current SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP; PHR or SPHR credential.
Proposed Salary

$60,000 annually
