Department Information

Situated in the College of Education, the Department of Educational Technology and Foundations offers graduate degrees in instructional design and technology and school library media through robust online programs serving candidates in the state of Georgia and beyond. The College of Education is doctoral-granting and SACS-accredited, preparing graduates for professional careers in three dynamic areas of focus: Teaching, Leadership, and Wellness.

The Department of Educational Technology seeks qualified candidates for a tenure track faculty position of Assistant Professor of School Library Media. Responsibilities include teaching in the online M.Ed., Ed.S., and non-degree programs in school library media and engaging in applied research and service activities.

Job Summary

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will assume a range of responsibilities including teaching online graduate courses in school library media; participating in service to the department, college, institution, and field; advising students; and conducting research. At UWG, teaching accounts for approximately 60% of faculty productivity; research 20% and service 20%.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

    Earned doctorate with emphasis in school library media, library and information science, instructional technology, instructional design, or closely related field (exceptional ABD candidates will be considered);Master’s degree in school library media or successful completion of a state-approved school librarian certification program at the master’s degree level.

Experience Requirements:

    PK-12 teaching experience OR significant work with PK-12 students or teachers involving school library media.
Preferred Qualifications
    Working knowledge of library and information systems, learning theories, instructional design, technology integration, and/or distance learning;
  • Experience working with adult learners and familiarity with adult learning theories;
  • Experience teaching and/or advising graduate students;
  • Demonstrated innovative uses of technology to enhance teaching and learning;Demonstrated ability to build and teach courses in fully online environments;
  • Willingness to take leadership roles in state, regional, national and international professional organizations

Other Information The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, codified at 20 USC 1092 (f) as a part of the Higher Education Act of 1965, is a federal law that requires colleges and universities to disclose certain timely and annual information about campus crime and security policies.
