The role of the Digital Content Producer, Alumni Digital Engagement and Promotions is to support expanding and improving Alumni Engagement and fundraising strategic initiatives via digital media.

Be part of a team, whose objectives are to develop, execute and measure a new alumni-centric digital engagement plan inclusive of social media, email, giving platforms, video assets, crowdfunding as well as new content and channels that will be developed over time.

Contribute creative, editorial, and production ideas to the development of the Alumni Digital Engagement Strategy, and be responsible for many aspects of its day-to-day execution. This includes creating and sharing stories that bring awareness to the impact of giving in support of fundraising initiatives.

Essential responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: the creation and deployment of a social media content plan; day-to-day engagement with alumni on social media channels; creation and deployment of alumni emails; writing, editing, and assistance in posting content and events to alumni web pages; supporting the coordination and deployment of video assets; and playing a critical role in support of the design and deployment of digital fundraising campaigns.

This role will be responsible for a limited number of non-digital communication projects for the department, including some deliverables for Expression magazine and additional projects pending capacity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist and support the creation and ongoing evaluation and measurement of a new alumni-centric Digital Engagement Strategy in support of overall Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving objectives. This will include both digital content and channel planning.


  • Participate in Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving program teams to contribute ideas for digital engagement efforts. Use a variety of data streams to inform strategy and make recommendations based on the analysis of this data. Execute corresponding digital engagement program assignments on time.


  • Create and manage day-to-day organic and paid content, campaigns and responses on all alumni-related social media channels in accordance with the priorities of the Alumni Digital Engagement Strategy. The Digital Content Producer with expertise in the ever-changing social trends will build, recruitment, and management of a social media ambassador program that will support fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives, and further, expand our reach to lost and unengaged alumni.


  • Collaborate with a small in-house team of creative professionals, editors, and external contractors as needed to support creative needs.


  • Train and utilize work-study students as needed to support and optimize alumni digital engagement efforts.


  • Work on additional digital and non-digital Marketing and Communications projects as assigned.


Your Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required in marketing, communications, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience producing digital content and managing email, website, and social media marketing in an agency, higher education, or in a complex fundraising environment.
  • Highly developed skills in communications writing and editing for digital channels.
  • Journalistic, storytelling, and marketing intuition; ability to identify and react to trending topics.
  • Self-starter who can recognize or create opportunities and move quickly to capitalize on them.
  • Ability to multitask, organize and meet very distinct deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across the organization to bring ideas to life, execute projects optimally, and manage the expectations of colleagues in a productive manner.
  • Proven experience in developing digital and print content with a focus on advancing organizational goals and objectives.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated computer competency with common production software suites, such as photo editing, email, events and crowdfunding marketing tools, and analytics reporting software. Some design experience is a plus.
  • Some knowledge and passion for Emerson College and our alumni community.
  • Knowledge and experience with implementation of best practices in digital marketing, social media, and email marketing. Experience working in higher education, alumni engagement, or fundraising is a plus.
  • Ability to work cooperatively to achieve common goals; support collaboration and the sharing of information.
  • Impeccable attention to detail.




Grade of Position: A16E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25

Hiring Range: $62,600.00 - $65,600.00

This position will be exclusively represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 888 for purposes of wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
