JOB DESCRIPTION: Tompkins Cortland is looking for an individual who is ready to take on a leadership role within a newly created Strategic Marketing department. The Director of Strategic Marketing has responsibility for visionary leadership in the College’s enrollment marketing strategy, recruitment initiatives, public relations, innovative digital content, meaningful messaging and branding expertise for Tompkins Cortland Community College. The Director oversees the entire marketing and communication effort including the development and implementation of a strategic marketing and branding plan. Coordinates with departments across the College to increase student enrollment, manage external communications and the College’s identity and image. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has been working in the field and is seeking advancement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree and seven (7) years’ experience or a Master’s degree in marketing, public relations, business, or related field and five (5) years’ experience. Experience in marketing, including expertise in the development and implementation of strategic marketing, communication, and branding plans in a higher education setting. Supervision experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in a higher education setting.

EXPECTED HIRING SALARY RANGE:  $75,610 - $94,512 - Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. As a College employee, this appointment includes NYS retirement benefit options with a choice of a pension or gracious matches to 414H, attractive Health Care options with 80% of premiums covered by the College, and supportive work-life balance with 16 holidays, 20 vacation, 12 sick days per year, and tuition assistance in addition to other benefits offered by the College. Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3) is one of 30 community colleges and 64 campuses in the State University of New York system. TC3 is located in Dryden in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, near Ithaca, a naturally beautiful area with rich resources and an educational focus with 4 colleges and universities in a 20-mile radius. The college serves more than three thousand students in credit programs and another three thousand in non-credit workshops and customized training.

The college offers 54 academic programs in business, computers, health, communications, liberal arts, criminal justice, and human services. Specific degree programs include broadcast production, computer forensics, aviation science, engineering science, new media, sport management, and several liberal arts programs, including education and general studies.

The college attracts a diverse student body from most counties in New York State, several other U.S. states, and nearly 70 countries. About half of the college's graduates transfer as juniors to bachelor's degree programs at a wide variety of colleges and universities around the world, including Cornell University and Ithaca College.

TC3 students study both full-time and part-time, and the college is a leader in online education. The college operates extension centers in Ithaca and Cortland.
