Description
Reporting to the Department Chair, the Assistant Director for the Digital Dental Laboratory in the Kornberg School of Dentistry will be responsible for overseeing all CAD/CAM operations for the school including direct oversight of all CAD/CAM scanning and design, dental and implant restorations, preparation of casts, digital impressions, crown designs and other prostheses including nesting, milling, staining, glazing, and finishing along with working directly with dental faculty and students to ensure high quality of all dental implants being produced. 

The Assistant Director will also be working directly with outside laboratories and other contracted vendors to identify and implement new and more efficient ways to improve on CAD/CAM facilities, equipment, designs, materials, and techniques to create various prostheses. Additionally, the Assistant Director will also be responsible for lecturing and presenting to dental students within advanced restorative courses to teach and give demonstrations on CAD/CAM techniques, supervising faculty and students with clinical data collection used in scanning, coordination of all lab processing of digital prostheses, and providing administrative support for the lab. Other responsibilities will be running the day to day operations of the CAD/CAM lab including developing, reviewing and maintaining lab procedures and protocols; ensuring that the lab, students, and staff are following and are compliant with all regulatory and safety procedures; ordering and maintaining inventory of CAD/CAM materials; designing and 3D printing of surgical guides; maintaining (set up, cleaning, basic repairs) of lab equipment; allocating the digital scanners to users; and entering and verifying work orders and digital scans being sent to outside labs into Axium.  Performs other duties related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience: 
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and at least 5 years of directly related experience within a dental environment specifically working with dental prostheses and CAD/CAM technology. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Must be able to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and other external contacts.
