Stetson University’s Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) maintains and supports the University’s enterprise information and reporting system (Ellucian’s Banner) for all users, departments, and functional areas including Student, Finance, Human Resources, Financial Aid, Advancement/Development, and Institutional Research. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Enterprise Information Systems and User Services, the Applications Analyst/Developer will primarily be responsible to work on mission critical web-based and native mobile applications that interface with the university’s main ERP system, data transfers in real time using APIs and web services; track and solve routine work requests; and maintain version control of program code.

Flexible work arrangements may be requested by the incumbents of this position. Requests will be subject to supervisor and University review, and will be done in accordance with University policy.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conceptualize, create, and develop secure web-based responsive applications and native mobile applications which support Stetson’s business processes and strategic goals
  • Design and implement data dashboards and reports as appropriate for Stetson management
  • Perform business process analysis in cooperation with user teams
  • Maintain version control of program code
  • Track and solve routine work requests
  • Perform other site and position specific functions as assigned
  • Requires some physical effort, i.e. some standing and walking, frequent light lifting (5-10 lbs); and manual dexterity in the operation of office equipment; extended periods of time at a keyboard; perceptual demands for color, sound, form, and depth; occasional hours outside the normal University schedule

ROUTINE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work on web-based and native mobile applications such as Banner Self-Service, Banner 9, authentication systems (Azure and CAS), RESTful APIs, MyStetson portal and mobile app, Argos reporting
  • Track and solve routine work requests; and maintain version control of program code
  • Perform other site and position specific functions as assigned

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree; Master's preferred

Required Experience
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with 3-5 years of experience in software applications development.
  • Extensive experience with JAVA, PL/SQL, JSP, Javascript, JQuery, Python.
  • Experience with Cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with mobile applications development.
  • Experience with virtual environments, and container-based applications
  • Experience with Oracle and other relational database administration.
  • Experience in Higher Education and knowledge of Ellucian’s Banner ERP preferred.
  • Knowledge of a diverse environment of applications and database technologies that include: Oracle databases, Tomcat Application servers, Docker containers, Kubernetes, plus third-party and in-house applications associated with Banner ERP.
  • Strong object-oriented programming background and extensive web applications development experience.
  • Experience designing, customizing, and implementing software in a production environment, including designing custom applications, process modifications, responsive web applications, and custom reporting tools.
  • Knowledge, experience, and programming skills in implementing layers of web-security.
  • Experience working in Linux/Unix operating system environment.
