About the College/Unit/Department:

As the 4th largest public college of education in the country and the 3rd largest college at UGA, the Mary Frances Early College of Education (MFE COE) improves the lives of residents of Georgia and beyond through our instruction, research, and service. The MFE COE is a comprehensive college with disciplines focused on teacher preparation, counseling and human development, communication sciences, human movement sciences, career development, student affairs, and educational administration and policy. We place significant emphasis on graduate education with approximately 40% of our students at the graduate level, making us the second largest college at UGA with respect to graduate education.

Named for Mary Frances Early, UGA’s first African American graduate, in February 2020, the MFE COE has a long and distinguished history as a leader in diversity, equity, and inclusion. Position Summary:

The position supports the coordination, development, and growth of assigned academic programs in the Mary Frances Early College of Education. This role requires strong organizational, analytical, creative problem solving, and management skills, including data analysis, project management, coordination with other departments and units, and implementation/evaluation skills. This position is part of the Office of Academic Programs and reports directly to the Director of Assessment. Job duties center on:

  • Initial preparation programs (teacher, leader, service certification)
  • Undergraduate admissions processes
  • Program Assessment and Evaluation
  • Enrollment Management and Student Retention
  • Coordination and Communication with Other Programs and Departments
  • Strategic Outreach and Marketing
  • Support for enrolled and prospective students

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:

  • Knowledge of academic program development, and corresponding program management and administrative functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in planning and coordinating multiple complex projects.
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures and effectively communicate to students, staff, and faculty and demonstrated ability to quickly learn complex policies and procedures.
  • Effective organizational, self-learning, problem-solving, initiative-taking, interpersonal, and communication skills, including in-person and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse array of individuals, including other staff, faculty, administrators, and students.
  • Knowledge of FERPA regulations in maintaining confidential student information.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Program Support:

  • Develop and implement processes, procedures, policies, and systems. May include course, unit, and enrollment projection, student progress tracking, and other mechanisms. Maintain other program and student databases.
  • Monitor and facilitate undergraduate and Double Dawgs admissions processes and progressions.
  • Collaborate with Faculty Program Coordinators and Advisors to offer program information sessions and orientations.
  • Work closely with Faculty Program Coordinators, Advisors, and Director in establishing program curriculum, brochures, catalogs, requiring planning, coordination, knowledge and understanding of the academic program.
  • Prepare programmatic handbooks, presentations, and reports, etc.
  • Contribute to applicable aspects of assessment and evaluation processes. May include SLOs, PRAC, selected reports for grants, etc.
  • Contribute to strategic marketing and outreach strategy as needed. May include development of fliers, video messaging, and other modes of communication to attract prospective students.
  • Work closely with counterparts in the College and University wide departments.
  • Exercise independent judgment and apply knowledge of administrative and academic operating policies to support student success.
  • Provide excellent customer service to students by relating program information and resources.
  • May participate in special workgroups to complete and report specified tasks and outcomes.
  • Work closely with faculty program coordinators to facilitate program processes
  • Work with counterparts in the College and UGA
  • Prepare documents for orientations and information sessions
  • Other duties as assigned.

Enrollment Management:

  • Support admissions, retention, timely progression, graduation, and career outcomes of students from selected programs.
  • Develop and support program support initiatives such as orientations and information sessions.
  • Communicate with the advisors in the Office of Undergraduate Advising to share resources, strategies, and techniques for supporting students. Identify common problems with student support, programming logistics, instruction, assessment, and connect with appropriate UGA entities for support.
