Minimum Qualifications:

Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of successful alumni relations or related experience.
Advanced degree a plus.

Position Summary:

The Director of Alumni Relations for the College of Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) will create programming and oversee activities designed to foster and enhance alumni, community, and businesses and professional associations’ involvement in the college. This person will be a member of the college’s external relations team which works collaboratively to advance the goals, objectives, and priorities of the college resulting in public and private financial support through deliberate building and maintenance of relationships with alumni, stakeholders, friends, and donors. This person will report to the director of development in the dean’s unit. Key programming will include supporting the FACS Alumni Association Board and the FACS Alumni Association and supporting additional advisory boards in the college. The Director of Alumni Relations will manage the college’s annual alumni awards program, work with the director of communications for timely and inclusive social media and print communications to and about alumni, and serve as the college’s liaison with the UGA Alumni Association. This person will help develop and coordinate other new alumni and friends programming, working closely with UGA Alumni Association staff and programs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Manage the FACS Alumni Board of Directors including but not limited to the following. Manage budget for the college alumni association and promotional activities. Provide data for informed decision making and program planning by the alumni board Manage committees of volunteers. Support and manage progress of board initiatives and goals for fundraising and engagement. Assist with other advisory boards within the college as needed. Work closely with advancement and college leadership. Facilitate nominations and membership solicitation process and orientation on and transition off the boards. Assist board committees in developing and executing alumni and student engagement programming, including the Homecoming Tailgate, Dogs with the Dean, Get the Finals Scoop and Cookies and Cocoa. Build agendas for meetings, working with staff to coordinate meetings and events, post-meeting follow-up, and other related duties assigned. Prepare event ‘run of show’, providing script and suggestions to ensure the dean has positive outcomes and engagement with key constituents

Duties/Responsibilities:

Responsible for planning and communicating the annual calendar and establishing goals and benchmarks. Play a key leadership role in planning and executing the FACS Leadership Retreat. Manages the Annual Alumni Awards Event, including coordinating the alumni awards selection process and the selection committee activities. Communicate with those selected to receive awards, and coordinate the alumni awards luncheon. Organize regional FACS events and FACS participation in university alumni events or engagement opportunities such as 40 under 40 and Bulldog 100.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Manage alumni social networks and create content for marketing alumni across social media platforms. Responsible for content and timely distribution of electronic newsletter 3-4 times per year. Prepare annual report to the alumni published in the magazine distributed to 20,000 alumni and donors. Coordinate with the director for communications to provide timely and relevant content for the FACS Facebook, Instagram and Twitter feeds, maintaining content for the web and providing content through social media. Maintain alumni data, research, and provide lists and data about alumni.

Seek information on alternative venues, program options, and price points. Prepare budgets on which to base recommendations. Secure contracts and supplies. Monitor participant registrations and budget outcome for events. Advise the dean, supervisor, and the board of directors on event planning and outcomes. Plans and oversee budget estimates and actual expenditures for program activities supported by Foundation accounts and state accounts, complying with regulations and policies.
