The Department of Pharmacy Practice at The University of Rhode Island (URI) invites applications for a calendar-year, non-tenure track faculty position at the level of Clinical Assistant Professor beginning July 2022. The non-tenure track position is for three years with continuation expected. The successful candidate will develop an Ambulatory Care clinical pharmacy role within a teaching health system. The successful candidate will have opportunities for interdisciplinary teaching, service, and scholarly collaboration across the URI campus and within the URI Academic Health Collaborative which includes the Colleges of Health Science, Nursing, and Pharmacy, as well as external partners. The College of Pharmacy (COP), Department of Pharmacy Practice (PHP) is committed to knowledge development, scientific inquiry, and excellence in teaching and clinical practice. This faculty position is a partnership with Integra Community Care Network / Rhode Island Primary Care Physicians Corporation (RIPCPC), a team of physicians, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, community health workers, and over 9400 patients working together to improve the health and well-being of the community. Most patients identify as Black, Indigenous, or people of color (BIPOC), with 18% Black, 10% multiracial, 5% Asian, 5% Native American, and 20% as other; 37% indicate their ethnicity as Hispanic or Latino. Patients at Integra speak at least 6 different languages, with nearly 1 in 6 speaking Spanish primarily. We seek a scholar-teacher who is committed to the University of Rhode Island’s mission as a learner-centered research university where diversity, fairness, and respect are valued. The ideal candidate would be adept at engaging and supporting students from a variety of backgrounds. We are seeking candidates with expertise in the following: ambulatory care pharmacy practice with emphasis on cardiometabolic diseases, respiratory diseases, geriatrics, pain management & transitions of care. The candidate should have knowledge of HEDIS measures, CMS quality measures & Medication Therapy Management services. The candidate will work collaboratively on the interdisciplinary care team to support the needs of the primary care practice, patients, and payors. The candidate will be expected to establish an exemplary clinical practice model for student pharmacists in ambulatory care and scholarship in an area that complements the college’s mission. The candidate will work closely with Integra, the Director of Experiential Education, and the Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice to develop a high-quality advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) in ambulatory care. The expectation is that the candidate will precept students throughout the calendar year. The successful candidate will also contribute to the University’s teaching mission and participate in service activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Precept student pharmacists and pharmacy practice residents in an Ambulatory Care practice site.

Contribute to the Doctor of Pharmacy program by mentoring and teaching in required and elective coursework in the College of Pharmacy.

Serve on college, university, and practice site committees as appropriate.

Augment and support the Integra / RIPCPC embedded clinical pharmacist model at this primary care practice site.

Support teaching and scholarship for Integra / RIPCPC and the College of Pharmacy.

Collaborate with RIPCPC pharmacy team on clinical initiatives and future program development.

Work collaboratively with diverse patients and their families, pharmacists, nurses, resident and faculty physicians, behavioral health faculty and other health professionals. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other duties as assigned. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

The incumbent is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED:

1. Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

2. Eligible for pharmacist licensure in Rhode Island.

3. PGY2 residency focused in ambulatory care, or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years’ experience in an area of ambulatory care practice with at least 50% of time spent providing clinical service).

4. Demonstrated record of scholarly productivity and/or research collaborations commensurate with experience.

5. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.

6. Demonstrated excellence in writing skills.

7. Demonstrated experience in classroom and experiential teaching.

8. Clinical expertise in ambulatory care pharmacy practice & practice management.

9. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and groups/populations.

10. Knowledge of HEDIS measures, CMS quality measures & Medication Therapy Management services. PREFERRED:

1. Board Certification in Ambulatory Care (BCACP).

2. Demonstrated fluency/proficiency in Spanish.
