Description:
The Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of clinical neurophysiology; Epilepsy; Computational Neuroscience, Network and Statistical Modeling, Machine Learning and analysis. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Board certification in Neurology and Epilepsy is required.
Teaching responsibilities may include teaching medical students, residents, fellows and trainees at all levels, both in clinical neurology, epileptology and clinical neurophysiology.
Clinical responsibilities may include attending in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit and EEG/ LTM service in 1-2 week blocks, outpatient clinic and attending in residents’ and fellows’ clinics. Time may be potentially spent at multiple locations in the Penn network, though every effort will be made to keep clinical activity proximate to the candidate’s research laboratory, to facilitate research.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include membership and collaboration with The Center for Neuroengineering and Therapeutics, focused on the interface between Engineering, the Clinical Neurosciences and. Epilepsy. The candidate will join Drs. Litt, Davis, Vitale and other members of the CNT in active collaborations. Experience and a demonstrated track record in obtaining independent funding is required for this position. The successful candidate will spend a significant amount of time dedicated to funded research. Evidence of scholarship is required in the Clinician-Educator track.
Clinical expertise is required in the specific area of Neurology, with fellowship training in Epilepsy. The candidate must be skilled in the acute, chronic and tertiary care of epilepsy patients, EEG interpretation, electrocorticography, and evaluation of patients for epilepsy surgery, including stereo EEG, Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT), intra and extraoperative functional brain mapping and neurostimulation, both in implantable devices and in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
