The Board of Trustees of the Maine Community College System invites applications and nominations for the position of President of Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC) located in Fairfield, Maine.

KVCC currently serves approximately 2,000 credit students annually, with anticipated growth in the future. Fully accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education, KVCC is part of Maine’s seven-member community college system.

As a priority, the Board of Trustees seeks a President who has the ability, commitment, and vision to continue the college’s commitment to enhancing student success and delivering high-quality education and training.  The Board also seeks a President who can lead KVCC during a period of changing student demographics and as the college expands its role in economic and workforce development.  The President has the responsibility of institutional leadership, long-term planning, and fostering an environment that is conducive to learning.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate outstanding skills in performance-based education and training, strategic planning, and communication, as well as success in team building, participatory management, and the implementation of economic development strategies.  Candidates are also expected to understand the role of the college in economic development and be willing to play a leadership role in promoting opportunities in the region.  In addition, candidates must possess: a master’s degree and be currently enrolled in a doctoral program, candidates with an earned doctorate preferred; a combination of administrative, teaching, or management experience; and a proven leadership record.

Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.   The college and the system are committed to building and sustaining an equitable and inclusive working environment where diversity among students, staff and faculty is valued.

Applications are due December 31, 2021.  A review of applications will begin in early January and continue until the position is filled.  Application materials must include a cover letter that addresses how the candidate’s background and abilities meet the criteria set forth in the job posting and that includes a statement of the candidate’s management and educational philosophy (cover letter not to exceed three pages).  Application materials must also include a resume and three references and should be sent to:
