PROVOST

Augsburg University invites applications and nominations for its next Provost.  The Provost provides leadership, support, and strategic direction for the faculty and academic program, the student affairs division, and offices that support student learning, development, and success. It is expected that the provost will work closely with the faculty and university leaders in shaping and articulating a clear vision for the academic program of the future, a vision that aligns with Augsburg’s mission, strategic plan, and the needs of diverse 21st century learners.

Set in a vibrant neighborhood near downtown Minneapolis, Augsburg University offers 50 undergraduate majors and 11 graduate degrees to more than 3,100 students of diverse

backgrounds. Augsburg has established itself as a national leader in diversity, equity and inclusions and now welcomes a majority of new students each year from diverse backgrounds. The University’s commitment to serving the full range of 21st Century learners is grounded in the Augsburg150 strategic plan, and is strong supported by the Board of Regents, administration, faculty, staff and students. Augsburg is also recognized as one of the country’s leading institutions for community engagement and ranks among the top producers of national and international student fellowship awardees, including Fulbright and Goldwater scholars.

The next provost of Augsburg University will be a seasoned educational leader who understands and is energized by the mission of Augsburg, the university’s commitment to intentional diversity, equity leadership, and inclusive excellence, and the university’s focus on academic excellence at the intersection of faith, learning, and service. A strong record of faculty service as a teacher and scholar, as well as successful senior-level administrative experience, at least in part at institutions like Augsburg, is expected. Augsburg faculty have a strong tradition of faculty governance and engagement and will value a provost who is accessible, works collaboratively, appreciates discussion and debate, and values transparency. A PhD or other terminal degree is required.
