The Department of Anesthesiology has an opening for two full-time University Staff (unclassified) HR Generalist position.

University Position Description:

Position Emphasis:

The Department of Anesthesiology has two openings for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Human Resources Generalist. One selected HR Generalist will be responsible for supporting the human resources needs and functions of the Department of Anesthesiology, with focus on the Adult Clinical, Education, and Research missions of the Department. Another selected HR Generalist will support the human resources needs and functions of the Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology. The positions will work as part of the Department of Anesthesiology’s People Operations team and will provide cross-team coverage in the area of Human Resources, Payroll & Compensation, and Faculty Affairs. Both HR Generalists will be responsible for serving as back-up to one another on an as-needed basis.

Supervision Received:

The Department of Anesthesiology’s HR Generalists will report directly to the People Operations Director. The HR Generalist supporting the Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology will be expected to work closely with the Department’s Pediatric Division Administrator. Both HR Generalists are expected to collaborate, as appropriate, with the Payroll & Compensation Specialist, HR Shared Services Liaisons, Employee Engagement & Faculty Affairs Lead, the Faculty Affairs & Recruitment Coordinator, and the Director of Finance and Administration.

Supervision Provided:

The Department of Anesthesiology’s HR Generalists will not provide any direct supervision to other employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Overall responsibilities:

    Work closely with leadership in each unit, as appropriate (Adult Clinical, Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology, Education, and Research), under the direction of the People Operations Director, to ensure all HR needs are being met regarding recruitment, hiring, onboarding, personnel management (FTE changes, FMLA, etc.), resignations and terminations, etc. Collaborate with HR Shared Services (HRSS) to ensure timely processing of Department HR transactions/requests including but not limited to: position creation, staff recruitment, hires, letters of offer, promotions, resignations/terminations, leave payouts, FTE changes, etc. for all faculty and staff, including Denver Health, VA, and volunteer clinical faculty. Ensure hospital and CU Medicine credentialing is completed in a timely manner for faculty start dates; monitor the process from start to finish, in conjunction with HRSS; liaise with other Departmental staff for required documentation for the credentialing process In conjunction with the People Operations Director, Vice Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and other Department leadership, assist in the execution and implementation of DEI initiatives specific to the Department of AnesthesiologyAssist appropriate Department units with the data entry and completion of annual salary setting process on an annual basisAssist in the execution, maintenance, and tracking of faculty administrative roles and applicable stipends, time, and/or funding; ensure appropriate recruitment requirements are followed for each faculty administrative roleResponsible for creating, presenting, and implementing process improvement initiatives, when requested by department leadership, for various HR processes to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and tracking; research and implement the use of technology/tools for necessary improvementsMaintain, in accordance with campus standards, personnel files of current and past regular faculty members, clinical faculty members, exempt professionals, classified staff, postdocs and CU Medicine staff.Assist the People Operations Director with employee training and development initiatives for staff and facultyCommunicate and collaborate as needed with faculty and staff in the Department, Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology, University HR, external entities, and affiliates regarding HR issues.Provide HR support to leadership, management, faculty, and staff.Remain current and up to date on all State, University, HR, Research, and Faculty Affairs policies and communicate changes as necessary to department leadership and staff.Perform other duties as assigned.
Recruitment:

    Run full-cycle recruitment for Department and Division staff Draft University staff job descriptions for new staff positions and update and/or revise current staff job descriptions as needed Collaborate with HRSS to post staff positions for recruitmentLead search committees through staff recruitment process to include creation and communication of a Search Charge, applicant review, interviews, and reference checkingWork with the People Operations Director regarding creation and communication of job offer to selected applicant, ensuring appropriate University processes are followed Collaborate with HRSS to process new hire paperwork Responsible for onboarding University staff Work closely with the Department’s Employee Engagement & Faculty Affairs Lead and the Faculty Affairs & Recruitment Coordinator for all faculty recruitment; assist the Faculty Affairs & Recruitment Coordinator with drafting and posting faculty positions for recruitment and finalizing letters of offer for new faculty hires; work with the Faculty Affairs & Recruitment Coordinator to ensure timeliness and completion of all documentation and requirements for faculty onboarding.
FMLA:

    Serve as point of contact for FMLA requests for appropriate Department unitInitiate FMLA paperwork with HRSS Track FMLA and leave usage for employees approved for FMLA, following Federal, State, and University laws and policiesEnsure appropriate processes and documentation is completed for employees who exhaust their leave and/or their FMLAReview FMLA/leave balances monthly and provide updates to the Payroll & Compensation Specialist, Data and Analytics Coordinator, and other leadership as appropriate for affected operational and payroll processes.
Payroll:

    Review and approve monthly leave transactions, entered by the Payroll & Compensation Specialist, for specified Departmental units In accordance with the Payroll & Compensation Specialist, through a checks and balances system, ensure all monthly variable pay is uploaded and approved by the CU Medicine and SOM Deadlines; reconcile monthly and bi-weekly payrollEnsure Department units are following University and Department leave policies through leave reconciliation and approval processes Serve as cross coverage/backup on an as-needed basis for the Payroll & Compensation Specialist to ensure all payroll deadlines are met; during particularly busy months for payroll, assist the Payroll & Compensation Specialist with payroll items, as needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution. Two (2) years of experience working in Human Resources
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Required: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    Related experience working in an academic medical center Experience executing HR processes specific to faculty Proficiency in PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM)Experience processing FMLA from start to finish for employees
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate a broad range of laws, rules, and regulations in order to exercise good judgment in applying them to human resource challenges.Knowledge of the professional standards, concepts, and practices of recruitment and selection, employee relations, or organizational development and human resource policy.Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, including public speaking. Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $49,681 - $58,000.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
