Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, the Director, Alumni Relations, School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (DAR), works closely with the school Dean and Senior Director of Development to implement a strategic and comprehensive alumni relations program which complements the strategic plan of the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (SPHTM). This position will develop strategies to identify, engage, and involve SPHTM alumni, parents, and donors with the university and with one another through events and other activities. The Director will coordinate with the University Office of Alumni Relations, Office of Advancement, the SPHTM and the broader university to strengthen and encourage sustainable, lifelong relationships between constituents and the university during fundraising campaigns and beyond. The director will coordinate with development colleagues, and various other offices, to determine meaningful ways to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward current and prospective donors. The director will establish new or work closely with existing alumni clubs, groups, and boards. The incumbent will play an active role in volunteer recruitment, engagement, fundraising and reunion. The director is expected to build strong internal relationships with colleagues in the Advancement Department including Development, Alumni Relations, Communications and in the SPHTM with students, faculty, and staff. The incumbent will develop a deep understanding of the school and the university and will stay abreast of industry best practices in alumni engagement.

Required Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience as an alumni relations professional. Transferrable experience including external affairs, admissions, public relations, marketing, advancement, or related field may be considered.•OR•High school diploma or equivalent and 9 years’ directly related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

•Experience in fundraising, large event planning, and board management.•Familiarity with academic SPHTM setting.•Graduate degree.
