Job Summary
The Assistant Director for Student Involvement is responsible for providing a robust campus activities program through the development of collaborative relationships with university departments, offices, and student organizations while concurrently fostering an environment that cultivates the creation of new student programs that enhances an engaging and transformative campus life experience. The Assistant Director assesses student program interests and creates, develops, and plans cultural, educational, social, and wellness recreational programs for the campus with intentional learning outcomes. The Assistant Director for Student Involvement will also serve as the general advisor to the Campus Activities Board (CAB). The Assistant Director is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive advertising and marketing plan for campus activities including the management of the physical software systems running Bobcat Vision. This position works in close collaboration with the Director of Student Activities and Organizations on many facets of the overall student experience. This is a highly responsible position that must have a passion for working with creative students, and have excitement towards contributing to a positive, entrepreneurial, and vibrant campus experience.


Responsibilities
Administration - 15
Conducts contract negotiations, review contracts to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines (local, state, and federal guidelines) and binds the university to significant financial obligations.
Ensures the mitigation of risk by ensuring that health and safety guidelines are maintained related to student and campus activities.
Ability to communicate effectively orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.

Programming - 50

Assess student program interests and creates, develops, and plans cultural, educational, social, and wellness recreational programs for the campus with intentional learning outcomes.
In collaboration with the Director of Student Activities and Organizations, the Assistant Director for Student Involvement oversees the university's various Bobcat Marketplaces (student organizational fairs).
Represents the department at campus-wide events such as nut not limited to New Student Programs (FallFest, SpringFest, and Summer Orientation), Senior Send-Off, and other university events.
In collaboration of the Director of Student Activities and Organizations, the Assistant Director leads special activities that are a part of campus-wide programs such as Weekend of Welcome, Homecoming, Midnight Breakfast, Bobcat Nights, and other educational programming initiatives in collaboration with other departments at the university when applicable.
Must have extensive knowledge of all areas of campus affected by student events.

Leadership - 15
Serves as the general advisor to the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and provides oversight of the planning of retreats, budgeting, scheduling of events, event management, elections, transitioning of new officers, and administrative coverage at large events sponsored by this group.

Marketing - 5
Develops and implements a comprehensive advertising and marketing plan for campus activities including the management of the physical and software systems running Bobcat Vision (campus-wide monitor system), social media communications, and web-based pages relevant to promoting campus activities, student organizations, and campus programs.

Supervision - 15
Supervise, train, guide, and evaluate a team of graduate assistants and student staff
Provides leadership in the form of support, mentoring, and training the staff
Assist with administrative duties such as strategic planning, assessment, budgeting, and representing the department as needed

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
 Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of three years of work experience directly related to functions in job summary.
Required Experience
 Experience with program development and program evaluation; ability to demonstrate creativity.
