This position is part of a close-knit team of world experts in the newly formed Norman Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases at the University of Florida. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty and other team members to develop novel therapies for patients with neurological and psychiatric disorders.

The Neuroimaging Scientist will perform work central to the development of data analysis pipelines, supervision of data analysis quality assurance, and troubleshooting. This team member will also assist in projects that relate to our ongoing cutting-edge research directions including finite element modeling, PET/MRI, MR diffusion imaging, computed tomography (CT), and machine learning tools for neuroimaging. The individual will be expected to interact with other teams to facilitate program activities and may serve as an advisor to faculty and lab staff to meet schedules or to resolve technical problems. The Neuroimaging Scientist will be expected to train students who work on relevant projects in data analysis methods.

The successful candidate must have a passion for brain research, strong technical skills with a background in medical imaging data analysis, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Fluency in MATLab and Python, advanced skills with Linux and scripting, and experience with medical image (MRI, DWI, CT) processing using open source programs is required. Experience with DSI Studio, MRTrix, or similar; finite element modeling programs; simulation, modeling, and visualization using SCIRun, COMSOL, or similar; and source code management in public and private repositories also sought. The individual will work on maintenance and execution of standard data analysis packages and on development of unique data analysis and data visualization pipelines. This position requires creativity and the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise.
