General Description

College of the Sequoias Community College District is seeking qualified adjunct faculty to teach within its Journalism Department. We are currently seeking adjunct faculty to teach Mass Communication and Media Practicum I/II for the Spring 2022 semester.

Adjunct faculty assignments may include weekend and/or evening classes at the Visalia Campus, the Hanford Educational Center, or the Tulare College Center.

Adjunct faculty applications which meet the required minimum qualifications are kept on file for one year from the date the application is received.

Adjunct faculty positions are temporary positions and do not accrue rights to tenure.

Job Duties

Under the general direction of a dean or director, adjunct faculty will provide comprehensive classroom instruction to students.

Qualifications

To work as an adjunct faculty member at the College of the Sequoias, you must meet the minimum qualifications as established by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.

The Minimum Qualifications for Journalism are:

Master's in journalism or communication with a specialization in journalism
OR
Bachelor's in either of the above
AND
Master's in English, history, communication, literature, composition, comparative literature, any social science, business, business administration, marketing, graphics or photography
OR
the equivalent

Organization

College of the Sequoias is a two-year California community college offering educational and enrichment programs for the residents of its district in Tulare and Kings counties. The college was established in 1925 and moved to its current 62-acre main campus site in Visalia in 1940.

In addition to the campus in Visalia, COS operates a full-service center in Hanford that is also home to the college's police and fire academies.

COS also opened its Tulare College Center in January 2013. It is a full-service college center and the home of COS' agriculture program
