The Post Production Technical Assistant’s primary responsibility is to facilitate the overall student experience at NYFA. This primarily involves helping students with editing and computer questions they have while working, including technical and creative input, as well as providing assistance to instructors during class and in preparation for class. This position requires high student interaction, so the individual in this position would require a background in customer relations with exemplary communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist students during their edit shifts
- Assist students with technical and creative editing questions
- Prep media shot on various HD based cameras for in-class screening
- Edit Acting student scenes and projects, school promo reels, and behind the scene footage
- Assist instructors during hands-on editing classes
- Prepare student film projects and processing
- Coordinate between departments such as scheduling, equipment, department coordinators
- Prep in-class screenings using google drive links
- Cleaning, Maintaining and Organizing workspace
- Provide excellent customer service to all faculty students and staff
- Perform all tasks assigned by the Post Production Manager
- Experience working with Avid Media Composer
- Adobe Premiere a plus, but not required
- Ability to troubleshoot errors
- Additional Post Production program knowledge a plus. (ie ProTools, DaVinci, Movie Magic, After Effects, etc.)
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments
- Film/video production experience preferred
- Ability to stay current in the field and to obtain new skills using new technologies
- Knowledge of basic networking a plus
