Employment Opportunity

Cabrillo College is seeking a Director, College Readiness and Dual Enrollment who develops, coordinates, and implements all programs and services associated with college readiness and dual enrollment for Cabrillo College. The Director, College Readiness and Dual Enrollment, manages all aspects of the dual enrollment program by facilitating and maintaining relationships and partnerships with K-12 school districts in the area. This position develops and proposes policies and procedures, negotiates dual enrollment agreements with K-12 partners to deliver courses and services.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Salary:
Full-time administrative/management assignment (225-day work year), 12 months per year, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with evenings and/or weekends as needed. Current eight-step schedule ranges from $91,003 to $128,051 per year. Salary placement is determined by documented education and experience. A doctoral stipend of $4,179 per year is provided to eligible employees. Position scheduled to begin as soon as possible, pending Governing Board ratification.

Cabrillo College currently provides a generous benefit stipend for employees plus dependents that employees apply towards benefit selections for medical, dental, vision (optional) life, and short-term/long-term disability insurance provided at a share of cost on a pretax basis, PERS Retirement and an employee assistance program (EAP). Depending on health plan selections, in many cases full-time employee net out-of-pocket for benefit premiums may be as low as $0.

Classified administrators are required to join the Public Employee's Retirement System (PERS) and as such must contribute up to 7% of their monthly salary to PERS on a pre-tax basis. Please see the Benefits link on the HR webpage for more information.

Work-Life Balance:
This opportunity is a full-time assignment, 12 months per year. Cabrillo administrators enjoy a 225 day work schedule, which equates to an average of 20 self-selected non-work days, 15 set holidays, 3 individual responsibility days off annually. 12 days of sick leave accrue annually.

Examples of Duties

The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to this class.

  • Plans, organizes, directs, controls, integrates, and evaluates the work of the college readiness and dual enrollment program; initiates and maintains positive relations with K-12 partners and Cabrillo staff and faculty to implement, support, and expand Dual Enrollment programs; acts as the lead point of contact for District and high school counselors, administrators, and faculty regarding Dual Enrollment programs.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of Career Technical Education (CTE) curriculum and general education pathways from the high schools, in collaboration with CTE Dean and in coordination with other college priorities, including Guided Pathways and Vision for Success initiatives.
  • With staff, develops, implements, and manages College and Career Access Pathways (CCAP) agreements with local K-12 districts to achieve goals and objectives, in alignment with the statewide and District strategic plans; manages and directs the development, implementation, and evaluation of plans, work processes, systems and procedures to achieve annual goals, objectives, and work standards.
  • Advance student equity, diversity, and inclusion through educational program planning and implementation.
  • Provide culturally responsive programming and support for minoritized dual enrollment students. Including, cultural competence to serve Latinx students and/or Mixteco speaking indigenous students.
  • Provide direct onboarding coordination and support for dual enrollment students under CCAP agreements and students in cohorts in collaboration with the welcome center and admission and records.
  • Develop and deliver orientations and meetings for new instructors, facilitators, students and parents
  • Directs and manages classified staff and student staff; directs and oversees the selection of staff and independent contractors; establishes performance requirements and professional development targets for direct reports; regularly monitors performance and provides coaching for performance improvement and devel­opment, including performance evaluations; accurate reporting of absence time; hears and acts on grievances; subject to concurrence by senior management and Human Resources, approves or takes disciplinary action, up to and including termination, to address performance deficiencies, in accor­dance with Board Policies, Administrative Procedures, Human Resources procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Provides day-to-day leadership and works with staff to ensure a high-performance, service-oriented work environment that supports the achievement of the department’s and District’s mission, objectives, and values; promotes workplace diversity, inclusion, cultural competency and positive work environ­ment.
  • Provides support to reporting managers and/or administrators regarding disciplinary actions and grievances; approves related decisions.
  • Collaborates with Cabrillo staff, faculty, and special programs to ensure comprehensive and strategic integration of program participants into college support services and transition of high school students to postsecondary education or CTE credentials or certificates.
  • Develops, reviews, and ensures compliance with policies and procedures related to the college readiness and dual enrollment programs.
  • Develops and coordinates marketing to facilitate and enhance knowledge of and participation in college readiness and dual enrollment programs.
  • Works with Cabrillo Admissions and Records to ensure accurate and efficient admissions, registration and student account records for dual enrolled students.
  • Stays abreast of and ensures program compliance with federal, state and local legislation and regulations; assists in developing, revising, and implementing relevant program policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates and chairs as appropriate to assignment such as the Dual Enrollment Advisory committee meetings and participates on shared governance committees.
  • Prepares a variety of reports and correspondence appropriate to assignment according to established timelines and as requested, makes presentations to the Board of Trustees, Cabinet and other District groups.
  • Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and. or records (e.g., dual statistical data, programs reports, webpages, databases etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the integrity and availability of the documentation in support of the students’ educational goals.

  • OTHER DUTIES
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disabil­ity, gender identity, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience
    Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation, of community college students, faculty and staff, AND
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree, AND
  • At least three years of progressively responsible professional experience in a related field; OR
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.

  • Desired:
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience working with community organizations in the development and coordination of dual enrollment programs.
  • Bilingual verbal and written communications skills in English and Spanish.
  • Bilingual verbal and written in Mixteco or similar dialect.

  • Equivalency Requirements:

    *Equivalency to an academic degree shall include the same depth of knowledge in the discipline and breadth of general education that is required for the degree to meet the minimum qualifications. Equivalent preparation for employment shall be considered under any one category or any combination of the categories listed below:

    • Degree in related field with equivalent course work in the required discipline as indicated by transcripts and/or thesis subject.
    • Equivalent degrees from foreign universities (as determined by a reputable foreign educational credential evaluation service).
    • Course work at an accredited institution of higher education AND state-approved continuing education units applicable for maintaining licensure AND/OR an internship for licensure AND/OR equivalent professional or work experience AND/OR equivalent verifiable accomplishments of eminence in the discipline including but not limited to: publications, research, seminars, creative works, professional performances or exhibitions, honors or awards.
