Position Summary:

The Office of Faculty Affairs, a unit within the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, provides oversight of faculty-related policies and professional development related to faculty success and academic leadership enrichment for the University of Georgia. It invites applications and nominations for the Program Coordinator for Faculty Development. This position supports the professional development of individual faculty and administrators, as well as the implementation of institution-wide initiatives and administrative policies related to faculty. It reports to the Director of Programming in the Office of Faculty Affairs, who reports directly to the Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs.

This position serves as a primary representative for programs providing outreach and educational services related to a suite of faculty and academic leadership development programs offered by Faculty Affairs. The Program Coordinator for Faculty Development will be responsible for assisting the Director in managing, marketing, and evaluating a range of programs for faculty and academic leaders that enhance excellence at the University of Georgia. Although the suite of programs is expected to evolve, current topics include; 1) planning for success as a faculty member, 2) effective mentoring, 3) increasing faculty diversity through active and systematic recruitment practices, 4) academic leadership development, and 5) increasing faculty engagement and sense of community. These professional development programs include Aspire Fellows, Creating a Sustainable Writing Program, Faculty Search Committee Training, Faculty Interest Groups, Faculty Learning Communities, New Department Head Training, New Faculty Academy, Summer Leadership Institute, and more. This office works in consideration of and response to directives from above, emerging trends in higher education, and observed needs at UGA. The Program Coordinator will assist the Director in strategic planning, implementation, and assessment.

The position will provide project management for in-person and virtual workshops, events, cohort programs, and other faculty development series and resources. Duties include marketing, scheduling and room reservations, catering management, tracking expenditures, communicating with speakers and attendees, and managing registration, attendance, and post-event surveys. Work includes communicating with faculty and staff across campus, including schools, colleges, and central administrative offices, regarding programs and services via phone, email, and videoconference. Work includes designing online presence via website and social media, writing and editing website content, using customer relationship management (CRM) software, and creating surveys via Qualtrics. Depending on qualifications, the position may also include designing and facilitating faculty workshops and supporting materials in the learning management system and on the website.

This is a full-time, 12-month staff position. The salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience. Although this is a national search, qualified internal candidates at UGA are also encouraged to apply.

• Knowledge or credentials in faculty or educational development, adult learning, organization development, human resource development, coaching, wellbeing, and/or leadership or career development.
• Administrative or project management experience in higher education
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty and administrators.
• Evidence of supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and sense of belonging in higher education contexts
• Experience in providing professional development in higher education for faculty or leadership either in a Center for Teaching and Learning, an academic unit, or related arena.
• Project management experience to take multiple projects from conception to fruition while developing quantifiable measurements and prioritizing workload to meet deadlines and budgets.
• Excellent organizational skills, self-motivation, and ability to work under minimal supervision to meet deadlines. Adept at management of multiple tasks, adapting to change, and (re)prioritizing duties.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. Talent for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and community partners.
• Advanced software skills: sophisticated knowledge of full suite of MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. Experience with Adobe Suite, BrightSpace, SharePoint, Qualtrics, and OmniUpdate preferred. Ability to utilize technology for webinars, Kaltura, U-Tube, Audience Response, etc. Adept at learning software programs and information management procedures.
• Experience applying assessment methodologies to evaluate programmatic impact
• Evidence of excellent instructional design, presentation, facilitation, or project management skills.
• A strong interest in supporting the success of others through training, coaching or mentoring, preferably with documented success in these activities.
• Knowledge of academic literature and resources in the areas of faculty development.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
