Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto)

Description:

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto's Temerty Faculty of Medicine, along with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at North York General Hospital (NYGH), are seeking a full-time, general obstetrician-gynaecologist. The successful candidate will have an academic position description of clinician teacher and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date is February 1st, 2022, or sooner.

This position is based at North York General Hospital (NYGH), one of Canada’s leading community academic hospitals. Our Obstetrics and Gynaecology group currently comprises 18 physicians with various specialty interests, including Maternal Fetal Medicine, Minimally Invasive and Complex Pelvic Gynaecologic Surgery, Early Pregnancy and Reproductive Care, Obstetrical Imaging and Colposcopy. Generally, clinical areas of interest in the Department include low-risk obstetrics, colposcopy, early pregnancy care program and obstetrical imaging. Since NYGH is both a family-centered program and a busy Level II obstetrical and surgical centre providing high quality care, the successful applicant will prioritize working collegially while maintaining a strong commitment to patient care, quality improvement, and teaching, all in the context of a high volume and clinically demanding environment.

Fellowship education in the areas of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Advanced Gynaecologic Surgery and Health Quality Improvement is part of the academic mission of NYGH, and the successful candidate would be expected to bring skills and experience that will further the department’s academic mandate. Formal training, or intent to complete training, in areas such as medical education, health quality improvement, and/or health systems management (or related discipline) is expected. Background training or intent to complete a six-month fellowship in vulvar health and colposcopy is highly desirable.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at NYGH supports all levels of medical learners, including trainees, fellows, and residents, thus the successful candidate should be prepared to teach and interact with all types of learners.

Candidates must either be licensed, or be eligible for independent or restricted academic license, under the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Qualified applicants must hold certification in Obstetrics and Gynaecology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), in addition to the MD degree. They must also hold appropriate malpractice insurance with the Canadian Medical Protective Association.

Applications will be accepted until December 16th, 2021.

Qualified candidates are requested to apply with a letter of interest and curriculum vitae via e-mail to:
