Fire Safety Technician – Environmental Health and Safety -

Regular,  Full-time - Market Range 04

 

The University of Tennessee Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is seeking a Fire and Life Safety Technician for the Knoxville campus.

This is an entry level position for a fire safety technician. This person’s primary responsibility will be monthly inspections of portable fire extinguishers in university buildings.  This person will also work closely with other members of the Fire & Life Safety team to perform annual certifications, fire extinguisher inspections, fire drills, fire safety audits, fire awareness communication and fire safety training events on campus.  This person will also have other general duties as required.



Qualifications
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Required to have a High School diploma or equivalent and one to two years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.  

Free of limitations which prevents extensive walking, climbing of stairs and fixed-ladders on a daily basis is required for this position. The candidate must be capable of lifting/carrying containers weighing up to 50 lbs.  Ability to work independently is important.  Basic knowledge of MS word and excel.  Valid TN Driver’s license is required.
