Full-time Faculty in UX/UI

 

CCAD is seeking an innovative maker and teacher for a new full-time open-rank faculty position in Experience Design. CCAD is looking to this role to bring critical 21st century, human-centered design approaches to existing degree programs, as well as to an emergent interdisciplinary BFA minor in user experience and to forthcoming graduate-level programming. Candidates with expertise in UX/UI interaction design, human-centered design, as well as experience design practices that are both physical and digital are encouraged.

 

We desire applications from candidates with a record of teaching experience; proven skill in course development; a commitment to diverse, equitable, and inclusive design and design pedagogy, and a track record of excellent creative practice. In this position, the faculty member will develop and/or teach courses in human-centered design, UX design, user research, service design, interaction design. Therefore, the ability to build, test, and innovate courses and programs within the structure of an academic institution is embedded in the responsibilities of this position.

 

All CCAD faculty have access to a variety of internal funding sources in order to support professional practice (travel, research, projects), including the Griffith Big Project Fund that supports new making and research projects. Faculty also have the ability to continue to work remotely from Columbus with their clients.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

This faculty member will take a leadership role in building programs and coursework that touch, broadly, on human centered design. To that end, they will teach between 3 and 6 graduate or undergraduate courses per year. As part of that teaching responsibility, they may also deliver short form continuing education courses or workshops in the same subject area.

 

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree is required, as is strong professional experience in interaction and human-centered design and/or a graduate degree in a relevant discipline.
