Job Description Summary

Full-time, tenure-track, 9-month instructor to teach Education courses starting Fall 2022. Courses are offered on the LLCC main campus in Springfield, IL and Outreach Centers in Jacksonville, IL, Taylorville, IL and Litchfield, IL.

Duties will include teaching 15 contact hours per semester of assigned classes; preparing lessons and course syllabi; evaluating and assisting students; keeping accurate records of student performance, including following grading procedures; providing students with timely feedback; maintaining office hours; participating in departmental/institutional operations and program review; creating a learning environment that fosters student success; developing, integrating, evaluating and reviewing student learning outcomes in support of the College’s ongoing accreditation; and contributing to a collegial and collaborative work environment.

The Department of Social Science and Business consists of 22 full-time faculty. The Dean of Social Science and Business heads the department.

Full-time faculty members teach 15 credit hours for load each fall and spring semester with small class sizes and the potential to teach additional courses during the summer term. LLCC employs face-to-face, online, hybrid, and remote instructional modalities and offers courses in 16-week and 8- week formats. In addition to a competitive salary schedule, benefits include 22 paid holidays a year, including 2 weeks at the end of the calendar year and one week in March for mid-semester break; summer teaching is optional; 2 personal days; and 15 sick days. LLCC faculty, their spouse and qualified dependent children are eligible to use the tuition waiver on credited courses.

Faculty salaries are determined by education level and experience. Below are the salary ranges for each level of education. Placement within the range will be determined by experience.
Masters $45,896 – $67,903
Masters +15 $48,193 – $71,298
Masters +30 $50,602 – $74,864
Masters +45 $53,131 – $78,607
Doctorate $55,786 – $82,537

Job Duties

  • Deliver instruction and maintain curriculum
  • Teach/conduct assigned classes, labs, and internships.
  • Prepare lessons and provide course syllabus for courses taught.
  • Create a learning environment that fosters student success.
  • Develop, integrate, evaluate, and assess student learning outcomes in support of the College’s ongoing accreditation.
  • Participate in developing and reviewing curricula and instructional methods and with the articulation of courses as necessary.
  • Consult with advisory committee(s) if appropriate for program/curriculum.
  • Evaluate and assist students
  • Keep accurate records of student performance including following grading procedures as outlined in the relevant course syllabus.
  • Provide students with timely feedback.
  • Maintain office hours consistent with Section 8.3 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

  • Compile and submit resultant assessment data as prescribed by Academic Assessment Team.
  • Respond to aggregated data in discipline and department meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters degree
  • At least 18 graduate-level credit hours in the teaching field
  • Knowledge of educational settings, practices and regulation, and education research and theory
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching Education at a community college
  • Experience teaching using Canvas and/or other online learning platforms

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check and drug-screen.

Position Salary

Starting salary is determined by education level and experience and will be between $45,896 and $82,537.
