Nature of Work:

This position supports the School of Dental Medicine instructional and clinical mission through procurement, finance reporting, analysis, and compliance support.  Some of the duties include purchasing, financial statement reconciliation, financial accreditation documentation, and internal cost reporting and financial projections. This position reports to the assistant director of finance and accounting and will perform projects for the associate dean for finance, budget, & strategic projects.

Examples of Job Responsibilities:

Provide school and patient finance, accounting, payroll, and procurement support to the school. Examples of duties include, but are not limited to:

Finance, Budgets and Reporting:

    Reconcile budget variances on a monthly basis and suggest updates on financial projections.Research and resolve discrepancies and errors which may include working with other campus personnel and external vendors.Investigate and corrects abnormal financial statement balances.  Monitor SpeedTypes for accuracy and appropriateness of activity.Prepare internal financial statements, reports, and special analyses related to the school’s finances.Create budget and general ledger journal entries.
Procurement/Travel:

    Coordinates the establishment of Purchase Orders for departments and submits amendments as needed.
    Oversight of the school’s operating expense encumbrances.Assists with non-employee reimbursements and patient refunds.Works with internal departments, vendors, and university personnel to confirm receipt of merchandise and services before processing payments.
Payroll:

    Assist internal HR department payroll suspense and payroll expense transfersCoordinates with the internal HR department to ensure personnel funding is accurate.
Other Duties:

On occasion, this position may be assigned other duties needed to help drive to the vision, fulfill the mission, and uphold the organizational values of the University and School of Dental Medicine.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:

    A bachelor’s degree in business administration, business, finance, accounting, or a directly related field from an accredited institution One (1) year of professional level experience
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

    Financial/accounting experience working in higher education, public sector, or non-profit sector with progressive responsibilities, including working knowledge of university administrative and fiscal policies and procedures and campus/organizational structures.Experience with University of Colorado systems, reporting, finance, procurement, invoicing, and billing, and PeopleSoft system financial module.Experience working with the health information terminology.

    Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.Outstanding customer service skills.Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and experiment with new software and systemsInterpret various financial statements and educate users of varying backgrounds.
Communications:

Interaction with faculty and staff on a daily basis. Strong communication skills and problem solving skills for dealing with a variety of personalities and various levels of stress at times.   

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $44,325 - $56,381

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
