The Biology Department at The University of the South seeks an ecologist for three years at one of the nation's top liberal arts institutions.
We are looking for candidates with training in ecology who would be able to teach introductory field biology courses, ecology lab, as well as upper-level courses in plant ecology or conservation biology. This position has a 3/3 teaching load with both lecture and lab sections counting toward that total.
The Biology Department is also seeking applications for a Molecular Biologist (2 years) and a Neuroscientist (1 year).

Candidates should be enthusiastic about teaching small interactive classes at a liberal arts college. The successful candidates may also have the opportunity to develop a research program that provides opportunities for undergraduate involvement.

In particular, we are curious about the candidate's ideas for leveraging educational best practices to engage students. We are looking for applicants who have a clear sense of how they will conduct their research program at a small liberal arts institution, or incorporate aspects of their research in the classroom and/or teaching lab setting. Applicants are encouraged to frame their scholarship for a broad audience, as a clear articulation of research topic and scope can also communicate an applicant's ability to communicate complex ideas.
