Organizational Unit Overview:

The Department of Family Medicine is one of eleven clinical departments at the Brody School of Medicine. The purpose of the department is to improve the health of the people of eastern North Carolina through leadership in Family Medicine education, research and health care services. The department provides accessible, high quality health care for its patients.The Department of Family Medicine consists of seven divisions, as well as a central administration office. Each division has a responsibility that supports the overall mission of the department. The divisions include educational development, research, medical student education, residency, geriatrics, clinical services, and sports medicine. Clinical activities take place in the Family Medicine Center, Robert and Frances Monk Geriatric Center, Firetower Medical Office, nursing homes, Vidant Medical Center and in the community.

Job Duties :

The faculty member will join the Department of Family Medicine and will participate in a variety of teaching, clinical, and scholarly activities. On-call responsibilities will also be assigned for regular schedule and designated holidays on a rotating basis.

Strong emphasis on teaching and patient care in both the ambulatory and inpatient setting, with opportunities to develop administrative and scholarship skills.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center (formerly Pitt County Memorial Hospital).

Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the
teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Minimum Education/Experience :

MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution required.

Board eligible or board certified in Family Medicine or OB/GYN required.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :

Board eligible or board certified in Family Medicine or OB/GYN required.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education :

Clinical practice experience with OB skills preferred
