Job Description

Please Note:

This job announcement is not an offer of employment. This requisition has been established to collect a robust candidate pool for part-time positions that may become available within the designated discipline at CSN. If a part-time position becomes available within the discipline, the hiring department will review the application material of the candidates who have applied and will invite select candidates to interview based on their qualifications. Should a candidate be selected for a part-time instructor position, no minimum course load is guaranteed and teaching assignments, if any, are contingent upon various factors, including but not limited to, minimum student enrollment and/or department need. No reimbursement for travel expenses will be provided to local or out of area/out of state candidates and there is no guarantee of continued or future part-time and/or full-time employment.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Lecture and Lab instruction, classes may be day or evening hours.
  • Primary teaching areas will be in Advanced Manufacturing Technology topics such as:
    • Metrology
    • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
    • Machining
    • CNC Milling and Turning (Lathe)
    • CADD and Additive or Subtractive Manufacturing


  • Candidate will be able to work independently, grade and prepare progress reports in accordance with school policy.
  • Evaluate the performance of students regarding achievements in curriculum and activities and make necessary provisions to meet learning needs.
  • Monitor students in the laboratory.
  • Demonstrate and assist students with lab procedures and ensure adherence with safety precautions.
  • Instruct students in accordance with the curriculum standards and objectives.


Applications will be considered on an as-needed basis determined by course availability.

This position will be paid $925.00 per credit hour. Credits will vary by semester.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Hold a bachelor's degree or higher in the following: Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Technology; Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; degrees in related field are also acceptable. AND
  • A minimum 5 years of work experience in a machining environment. AND
  • A minimum 10 years of Industrial Experience or equivalent government service.
  • OR An associate degree in Machining or one of the above listed fields and a minimum 8 years of work experience in a machining environment; and a A minimum 10 years of Industrial Experience or equivalent government service.
  • Degree(s) must be from a regionally accredited College or University


Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the minimum requirements, the department encourages applicants with the following credentials to apply:
  • Dual bachelor's degrees or a higher degree, one focused upon Industrial, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering or Technology; and one focused on Electrical or Electronics Engineering or Technology. The degrees can be in related fields and need to be from a regionally accredited College or University.
  • Leadership/ Management Experience
  • Ten or more years of work experience in Machining
  • Fifteen or more years of work experience in Manufacturing or Industrial Technologies.
  • Two or more years of experience teaching in Career and Technical Education.
  • Industrial Certifications such as NIMS, NC3
  • Experience teaching on-line/hybrid classes, Canvas preferred.
  • Experience creating college curriculum.
  • Experience developing an industrial lab in a college setting, such as a Machining, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Technologies Lab.
  • Experience working in diverse multicultural situations.
