The Director will lead the design, development, and implementation of ongoing/future assessments for medical and physician assistant (PA) students. Will pursue externally funded grant awards and educational scholarship, supporting medical student achievement in the learner-centered WR2 curriculum, and coaching faculty in the development of formative and summative assessments. Must be creative with an established track record of success in health professionals’ education and assessment; record of educational research publications is preferred. Familiar with educational innovations and best practices for educational testing and evaluation. Provides monitoring, maintaining, and managing the student assessment components necessary for full accreditation with the LCME and ARC-PA.

Responsibilities and Duties
Will represent the School of Medicine on the Assessment committee. Responsible for providing support to faculty to design a comprehensive strategy for educational assessments. Oversees the administration of medical school and PA examinations and the report of results to students and medical school committees. Will direct the Division of Student Assessment. Reports to Vice Dean for Medical Education; works closely with the Associate Dean of Curriculum and Director of the PA Program. Will participate in educational research and partner with departments/faculty educators to contribute to the design of grant submissions and facilitate dissemination efforts.  

Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree in educational measurement, educational psychology, cognitive science, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education (Ph.D. or Ed.D., or equivalent experience). Demonstrated skills in qualitative and quantitative analyses and research. Experience with applying software packages commonly used in psychometric work or research (e.g., SAS, SPSS). Demonstrated ability to train and mentor others. Strong technical writing skills; effectively present and summarize technical information orally/written. Project management skills necessary. Communication skills necessary to function effectively with project teams and external collaborators. Ability to conduct independent research in learning, instruction, or assessment. May be considered for a non-tenure track faculty appointment depending on qualifications and experience.

Work Environment
Office, clinical practice, classroom, laboratory, clinical skills teaching environments and clinical sites constitute working environments. Primary office located in the Health Education Campus. The work at times requires the ability to manage a rapid pace and to synthesize and organize large volumes of information; can includes settings of clinical practice and clinical teaching and prioritizing duties.
