Job Overview

Provides technical support with the administration of contracts to install, maintain access control, security monitoring systems, and related building security devices. Provides technical support in the design and development of new and retrofit security systems and in the development and maintenance of security systems standards, drawings, and documentation. Installs, repairs, modifies and upgrades computerized and electronic access control and operating devices for the purpose of ensuring the proper and efficient operation of such equipment. Provides assistance in the maintenance and documentation of communication pathways for security system devices. Provides software and system management support to various University departments utilizing the access control and security systems. Coordinates with UIS, Public Safety and customer groups to ensure systems are designed as needed and perform as expected.

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

The position reports to the Supervisor of Lock Shop and Door Access, who makes work assignments and provides technical assistance when needed. The employee works alone and with others on projects as required. The position oversees and coordinates contractor personnel.

Work Mode: On Campus. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Qualifications

Academic Level: High School

Practical Experience (years needed and type required): Four years of progressively responsible experience in the installation, maintenance and operation of building security devices and control systems.

Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certification: Completion of a post high school program in electronic technology.
