Serve as Project Director for Community Engagement for disability-related grants and research initiatives (e.g., Step Up AT, ACL and CDC COVID-19 supplements, Project SALT) at the Mailman Center for Child Development. Lead efforts to engage with community stakeholders in authentic, long-standing partnerships. Conduct focus groups and engage in participatory research activities with underserved populations (e.g., Overtown, East Little Havana, Homestead) and community agencies (e.g., Miami-Dade Head Start) in the design, implementation, and data analysis of community-based initiatives. Advise Interprofessional Collaboratives and other Mailman Center leadership regarding community-based activities.

Serve as Special Education Discipline Leader for the Mailman Center Leadership Development in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program. Participate in the LEND training program, involving supervision of special education trainees, including interns, and practicum students who are rotating through Mailman Center programs; give lectures to trainees regarding systems-level advocacy and special education services for various pediatric populations; and participate in Mailman Center faculty meetings regarding training program development, including admissions for interns and practicum students, and evaluation of trainees.

Recruit and oversee 1-2 medium- and/or long-term trainees each year.

Provide special education expertise for interdisciplinary training/modules

Participate in clinical research activities, including collaboration on projects with other faculty, assisting with the design of projects and data collection, and preparation of grant applications and manuscripts for publication.

Qualifications:

Terminal degree in special education.

Experience with curriculum development and teaching in an interdisciplinary, person- and family-centered context.

Established leadership experience with communities of underserved populations.
