The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems in the College of Business and Technology at the University of North Alabama (UNA) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position beginning in August 2022. The department offers a BS in Computer Science, a BS in Information Technology, a BBA in Computer Information Systems, and an MBA concentration in Information Systems. The review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

The University of North Alabama is the state’s oldest public university and sits on a beautiful 130-acre campus in historic Florence, Alabama. Florence is located within a four-city area on the banks of the Tennessee River known as the Shoals, which is steeped in arts, culture, and entertainment—and is home to the famous Muscle Shoals sound.

Responsibilities may include undergraduate and graduate teaching, on-campus and online course delivery, academic advising, scholarly research, and university service. Involvement in professional organizations and engagement with the professional business community are encouraged.

An earned doctorate in information technology, computer science, information systems or a closely-related field is required. ABDs will be considered if all degree requirements are met prior to appointment.

Organization

Established in 1830 as LaGrange College, the University of North Alabama has a rich history including the distinction of being the first state-supported teachers college in the South. The school's 130-acre campus is located in the historic district of Florence, Alabama, on the Tennessee River. Students come from around the country and world, but UNA is largely a regional university with about 70% of students coming from Alabama. Students can choose from more than 60 majors with professional fields in business, education, and nursing being most popular. Academic programs are supported by a 23 to 1 student / faculty ratio and an average class size of 25. On the athletic front, the UNA Lions compete in the NCAA Division I ASUN Conference.
