The social work program at Concordia College, Moorhead, MN seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-eligible position to serve as field director and faculty in our baccalaureate social work program. A master’s degree in social work and a Ph.D. in social work or related field (or significant progress towards terminal degree) is required for a tenure-eligible position. Alternatively, a 3-year fixed term position for candidates with a master’s degree in social work will also be considered. Conversion to a tenure-eligible position is possible with completion of terminal degree. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and level of experience. Position to begin August 2022.

 The position involves teaching, directing the field program for social work internships, placing and supervising students in internship, advising social work majors, service to the college and community, and engaging in scholarly activities that promote professional growth and development. Candidates should have ability to teach social work courses across the generalist social work curriculum and participate in program development. Candidates whose teaching, research, and/or other professional practice activities focus on diverse and under-represented populations, and who are interested in facilitating diversity-related learning opportunities for students are highly valued by the program and the college. Successful candidates will aspire to be part of a diverse community that affirms an abundance of identities, experiences, and perspectives in order to imagine, examine, and implement possibilities for individual and communal thriving both inside and outside of the social work program. 

The social work program is CSWE accredited and is part of Concordia’s newly launched School of Health Professions which operates out of a vision to expand quality interprofessional education and interdisciplinary collaboration. Building upon the college’s commitment to integrated learning and community engagement, the social work program works with community partners to implement applied, community-based learning across all its courses to advance student learning and professional competence. Our graduates pass the licensure test at rates higher than the national average and advance to a variety of professional social work positions in the upper Mid-West and beyond and/or advance to graduate school. The social work program seeks candidates to help prepare competent, justice seeking social workers in support of the college strategic goal for students to become “accomplished professionals, courageous citizens, and transformational leaders” for a more just world.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  1. MSW degree required.
  2. Two years post-MSW professional social work experience.
  3. Eligible for social work licensure in Minnesota.
  4. Ability to effectively teach generalist practice courses across the social work curriculum.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  1. DSW or Ph.D. degree in related field. 
  2. Five-years post-MSW professional social work experience.
  3. College level teaching experience.
  4. Experience working with community partners to place and monitor students in internship/practicum sites or experience as a social work supervisor of college students.
