Job Description:

Example of Veterinary Technician Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Assist with dentistry, taking and developing dental radiographs, and post-op nursing care of dentistry patients
• Know dental instruments needed for various procedures
• Able to take dental radiographs that are of diagnostic quality
• Know dental formula for both dogs and cat and proper charting
• Know how to properly perform a prophy
• Maintain equipment, inventory and supplies for dentistry by checking inventory levels, evaluating equipment, and anticipating needs for upcoming procedures
• Ensure that the dental area remains clean and organized
• Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment
  inventories, evaluating new equipment and techniques
• Performing general nursing care such as venipuncture, catheter placement, patient restraint, treatments, medication administration, and sample collection
• Assisting with patient evaluations or rechecks by assisting in patient restraint, obtaining and submitting samples, scheduling with other services for diagnostic or consultation purposes, and providing treatment
  or medications

The service receives Monday - Friday. May require working earlier than 8:00am or later than 6:00pm.

This is a full-time, benefited position and is considered essential personnel. A post-offer education verification, background check, and health assessment are required.

Expected Salary:

Starting salary is $16.50 to $20.00 per hour; commensurate with experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Veterinary Technician I: High school diploma or equivalent and two years of veterinary experience or one year of veterinary experience and currently enrolled in a veterinary technician program or a graduate of a veterinary technician program.

Veterinary Technician II: Credentialed veterinary technician and four years of veterinary experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited American Veterinary Medical Association program for veterinary technology OR
• Credentialed veterinary technician
