The University of South Carolina Upstate is a positive, diverse, and empowering institution for motivated, success-minded students who want to be challenged academically, supported personally, and pushed to the boundaries of their potential in an opportunity-rich environment. Because the University of South Carolina Upstate is proud of its student body, we seek to attract a diverse applicant pool.
The School of Education, Human Performance and Health seeks a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant or Associate level for the Community Health program. This position presents an opportunity to shape a new and growing program focused on high-impact community-based experiences for students that builds trans-disciplinary knowledge in community health. The selected candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with local and regional stakeholders, prioritize student success and learning, teach diverse populations, and work collegially with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders. Candidates interested in understanding barriers to well-being and health, and for whom working to maximize equity and opportunity is a priority, are encouraged to apply.
Minimum qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in community health, public health, global health, epidemilogy, or a closely-related field by the start of the appointment; ABD candidates with a planned completion date by August 15, 2022, are encouraged to apply. Teaching experience at the college-level as well as a record of (or the potential for) teaching in online or hybrid formats. An emerging research agenda focused on community health, with presentations and/or publications in community health or related field is also required. A successful background check is required.
To qualify at the rank of Associate Professor, the candidate must have a Ph.D. in community health, public health, global health, epidemilogy, or a closely-related field, six years of academic experience beyond the terminal degree by August 15, 2022, and at least three (3) peer-reviewed national/international publications and three (3) presentation at national/international conferences.
