The Engineering Technology (ET) Program at Texas State University seeks a Senior Lecturer with strong background in traditional and advanced manufacturing processes. The ET Program is housed within the Department of Engineering Technology and is ABET accredited. The program currently has over 340 majors in various Engineering Technology concentrations including Manufacturing Engineering Technology and Mechanical Engineering Technology. The Department houses 19 well-equipped, technical laboratories where students put into practice the principles learned in their classes. The successful candidate is expected to be an excellent instructor and have a proven track record of teaching either at the university level or in industry and is expected to teach three courses per semester. The successful candidate will teach various courses including Manufacturing Processes, Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), Manufacturing Process Engineering, Manual Machining, CNC Machining, Foundry and Heat Treatment, and Assembly Processes (including Welding) and associated lab components. Strict enforcement of lab safety rules and protocols is required in all manufacturing labs in the Department, and the successful candidate will be expected to know, teach, and enforce these safety protocols. Expected service activities include academic and career advising, involvement with STEM career fairs, and liaison with the Industrial Advisory Board. In addition to excellence in instruction and service, the candidate is expected to be a good departmental citizen and colleague and have excellent communication skills. Candidate selection will begin January 15, 2022 and will continue until position is filled. All positions are subject to availability of funds. Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial engineering and technology or closely related disciplines. Master’s degree in Business Administration will be acceptable if accompanied by relevant industrial experience in manufacturing or relevant bachelor’s degree.
- Teaching experience at the university level or in industry
- Teaching experience with hands-on manufacturing lab components
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or industrial engineering and technology or a related discipline
- Industry experience in the machining and metalworking industry
- Knowledge of manual and CNC machining and welding processes and related tools and technologies
- Experience with lab safety methods and procedures
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness in American universities or industrial training experience
