Position: Clinical Assistant Professor of Elementary Literacy Education (Non-Tenure Track)

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Alabama invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor of Elementary Literacy Education. This position is for a nine­ month academic year, non-tenure earning Clinical Assistant Professor that carries a four-course load per semester teaching obligation in the area of elementary education and reading instruction. The work also entails some expectation of supervision of practicum and internship experiences, the pursuit of external funding related to elementary education and literacy education and the provision of professional services to state and local education agencies, as well as to relevant professional organizations. This position is for two years with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon satisfactory performance, departmental needs and funding availability. The successful candidate will join 23 active research and teaching faculty as well as a vibrant student community. Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Earned doctoral degree in Reading/Literacy Education or a doctoral degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field, with at least 18 hours of graduate coursework in literacy
• Minimum of two years of full-time classroom teaching experience at the Pre-K-6 levels
• Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy, foundations of reading, and elementary or early childhood education
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity
