Job Description:

The Department of Surgery is seeking experienced candidates for a Clinical Service Representative III position. The primary responsibility is to deliver excellent patient centered service. The successful applicant will coordinate the daily responsibilities of the areas to include: provider and patient schedule management, chart management, and are required to attend faculty clinics as assigned. Mandatory clinic attendance is required to work with clinical staff to provide coordination of clinical care, non-medical aspects of patient care, and administrative aspects of care. The position is expected to ensure that the areas meet all utilizations/goals that are currently in place.

Essential functions of the job:

  • Attend faculty clinics as required to schedule appointments and tests as needed including O.R. scheduling and pre and post clinic visitations.
  • Arranges for special needs when applicable.
  • Tracks requests and results, and provides updated reports to clinical staff.
  • Communicates effectively with peers, providers, staff, and other internal and external customers to achieve program goals.
  • Provides administrative/staff support to physicians, physician-extenders, and nursing staff.
  • Responsible for independent office organization of assigned clinical service(s).
  • Provides direct, real-time phone triage, patient services and problem-resolution including registration, scheduling, prescription refills, lab/imaging results, and phone triage with an emphasis on timely, seamless, patient-centered service within the context of the clinic-specific protocols and scripting.
  • Communicates directly with the providers and others throughout the UF & UF Health system regarding patient needs as required.
  • At the direction of appropriate clinical staff, or per protocol, directs patients to appropriate providers for other health care issues.
  • Coordinates and schedules all necessary orders for outpatient and inpatient surgeries, including bed control orders and pre-operative anesthesia appointments.
  • Provides financial screening and counseling for hospital admissions and procedures.
  • Gathers and/or verifies patient information including demographics, insurance coverage and financial status. Uses e-Commerce, Medicaid Web Portal, and other online payer specific websites.
  • Obtains authorizations for clinical care, procedures, and ancillary studies.
  • Prepare financial procedure quotes using the UFP system.
Expected Salary:

$18.50 - $20.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and four years of medical office experience, that includes the knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding guidelines as well as basic medical terminology. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Knowledge of:

  • Epic
  • Citrix
  • PeopleSoft
  • Understand basic fundamentals of clinical practice operations.
