LSC-Houston North Greenspoint is a state-of-the-art, full-service location designed to serve the greater Greenspoint area. Its proximity to local businesses and public transportation has created a location ideal for working and non-traditional students. The facility offers a selection of day, evening and weekend credit courses, including university-transfer courses, certificates, computer/office skills, and developmental studies.

Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The PT Coordinator I, Communications serves as a representative of the college in the Office of Community Relations through means of written, print and digital media. Through these communication methods, assists in the promotional efforts internally and externally for the college to not only better serve the students, but attract new potential students as well.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Write communication including, but not limited to, press releases that are distributed to the media, print and online newsletters, and the college's email system
  2. Edit marketing collateral that comes through our office for accuracy; ensure that marketing collateral follows branding standards and produce quality materials
  3. Maintain the college's website, making sure it is updated with the most recent information
  4. Act as social media coordinator to promote the college's presence online;
  5. Work with the DMS LCD monitors on campus to help promote what is going on at the college, including creation, updating and troubleshooting
  6. Coordinate with the graphic designers to create campus marketing materials and keep records of all print advertising,
  7. Coordinate with media when there are inquiries; work with PR team for marketing activities and projects
  8. Serve in an administrative role for crisis communication to get the message out to the public in a calm, timely manner
  9. Assist with the creation of new marketing initiatives and assist in creating a marketing plan in order to meet the changing needs of the college and centers as well as using design programs to create and update marketing materials
  10. Assist with special events and serve on several committees for various events on campus
  11. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail
  • Excellent knowledge of general office and software applications
  • Ability to prepare and analyze reports
  • Possesses good organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize duties
  • High level of customer service
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Experience in copywriting, editing, social media, and e-communications
  • Experience in photography and video recording/editing
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment. Any specialized equipment typical to photography and videography
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree and at least 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $15.15
