Job Details

The Division of Social Sciences at Mount Saint Mary College (Newburgh, NY) invites applications for a tenure track position in the BA Criminology program at the rank of Assistant Professor with a start date of August 2022. The Criminology program offers a BA in Criminology with four concentrations: General, Criminal Justice System, Restorative Justice, and Juvenile Justice. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching required major courses as well as courses that are part of the four concentrations. This position may also be expected to contribute teaching support in the Sociology program.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Teaching responsibility is four courses per semester, with service and advising expectations. In addition to demonstration of a consistent research and publication agenda, the position also will require participation in Division and College-wide events focusing on new student recruitment, program promotion, and student retention. 

 

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have a PhD in Criminology (a PhD in Sociology with a concentration or specialization in Criminology may also be acceptable) or be ABD with an anticipated completion date no later than December 2022 at the time of appointment. In addition, the successful applicant will have college-level teaching experience and/or the expertise to teach introductory criminology courses and various program electives as needed.

Enrollment/Student Body Profile. Our student body is made up of 2,700+ students representing over 16 states and several countries. 1,800 are traditional undergraduate students.

Academic Programs. The Mount offers 50 undergraduate programs leading to a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree. Our collaboration programs offer you a chance to earn a bachelor's degree, plus an advanced degree with schools like Fordham University, Pace University, and New York Medical College.
